A synthetic peptide of 31 amino acid residues carrying a C18 fatty diacid chain attached through a short hydrophilic linker to the lysine side chain at position 26. The sequence also carries an alpha-aminoisobutyric acid residue at position 8 in place of the alanine found in the corresponding native sequence.
Both modifications are structural. The acylation promotes reversible association with serum albumin; the position-8 substitution removes the recognition site for cleavage by dipeptidyl peptidase-4, which acts on the N-terminal dipeptide of the unmodified form.
