A synthetic peptide of 39 amino acid residues carrying a C20 fatty diacid chain attached through a linker to a lysine side chain. The sequence also carries alpha-aminoisobutyric acid residues at two positions in place of the residues found in the corresponding native sequences.
These substitutions are structural. The acylation promotes reversible association with serum albumin; the aminoisobutyric acid residues remove recognition sites for cleavage by dipeptidyl peptidase-4.
